Happy Be-Lated Summer Solstice/Litha!!!

We are still trying to get outside and be able to have a fire and roast some marshmallows to welcome the Sun! The weather has not really been cooperating with that though! It's been a bit rainy so far this evening, but maybe we'll still make it out there!

Bill built me a wonderful other garden plot on the other side of yard. It looks really great! Right now in there I have planted some cauliflower, broccoli, Kale, strawberries, borage, tiger lilies, and some raspberry bushes! The other garden has carrots, radishes, tomatoes, catnip, beans, anise, summer savory and peas! Random containers around the yard and other spots have more raspberries, strawberries, tomatoes, herbs and flowers planted! I can't wait for everything to really get going! We also planted two apple tress as well...I am really looking forward to those maturing!

Still no news from my sister's autopsy results. This is a really hard part to contend with...even though we have a good idea and probable cause, it's still not complete closure and it's hard to break past the emotional goo and truly become healed or at least begin a true healing path.
It never goes away, of course, we always miss loved ones when they pass away. It will always be more a case of learning to live with that void in your life. She comes to me in my dreams sometimes and when I see her, she looks as though she is a fairy. I am not sure if that is because we both love fairies or that is what she became...at any rate it is comforting to see her in that light!

The kids seem to be healing alright. It's more difficult on the older ones because they have distinct memories of Auntie Kandie coming to visit and babysit them or just coming over and spending the weekend with us. The younger two don't really have any memories, especially Breanna. Which, itself is so heartbreaking. *sigh* Time is the only thing that will help heal and help us learn to live with the void of her missing in our lives.

Lot's on the table for this summer! A trip to Kelowna is on it's way! As is a day trip to Calaway Park (amusement park), the Zoo, Heritage Park and Bill and I are going to the Dinner Theatre for our anniversary this August.

This next year I feel will be a huge transformation. Emotional and physical. I feel that there is a difference that has been brewing and I have been finding my way through this journey. Finding a new soulfulness in my self and shedding old skins and revealing a much calmer and peaceful woman. I am tired of being trapped in a world of rules and it is time to let that go. Letting go is a definite theme. Letting go of fear. Letting go of negative energy. Letting go of hate and anger. Leaving in it's place only room for love and acceptance. Accepting that I cannot change people and cannot be responsible for their actions. Accepting that family and friends will lie, why I do not know, but it is what it is. I always have the ability to chose how I let their actions affect me and I am choosing to let it go. If I feel a situation coming to be where I know I am being lied to or about to be...I can remove myself from the situation physically or verbally.

I am feeling lighter and happier as I go, but it's a long path and journey. Meditation and Yoga are a tremendous help and are a definite part in this change. Allowing myself to be happy with who I am (mind, body and soul) quirkiness and all!! :)

So as I float through this journey I am allowing emotions to arise, I accept them for what they are and then let them go. I am doing no service to myself by re-living things from the past over and over again, even if it was last week. All I can do is be sure to live each day the very best I can and follow my heart with each experience. I can propel positive energy out to the universe and graciously accept it's positive energy in return! I can smile and show kindness. I can accept people for who they are. There are plenty of things I CAN do and it's better to focus on that.

On a completely un-related topic (well, kind of) we are all done 'school' for the year. I say that loosely because we are always learning, it's not like our brains just shut off because it's June!!lol
Next year Alex has decided to take on some highschool classes, all distance learning. Alyssa will be technically grade nine, but we will be doing stuff to help her get geared up for her highschool program the following year as she wants to attend Hair College. Robert is going into gr.7, Kayla Gr.5, Mariah Gr.3 and Matthew will officially join the 'schooling' group in Gr.1!! Yes, baby Matthew...lol....I can't believe it either! Breanna just loves to watch the other kids when they do projects and do their activities!
Alex is doing great working part time at a local grocery store, he has proven himself to be a great worker who is punctual, ethical, and determined. Not to mention the fact that he LOVES his job!
flyer route that they do to help out with the family finances, which is a huge help! I am very blessed to have such awesome kids and an awesome husband to enjoy life with! We have an exciting road ahead of us!

Blessings to you all!!!

I *heart* This!

Had to share this quick. I am so happy to see something like this hitting mainstream, it's about time!
Mayim talks about Parenting

How awesome is THAT! The only thing we didn't do was elimination communication. Main reason was that I didn't really know that much about it and in all honesty, I.am.a.chicken. Yup! There, I said it!
Of course, now it's too late as Breanna is coming up to 3 and half and is quite attached to her dipes still.*sigh*

While I realize that our style of parenting is not for everyone, I think it's quite alright for others to learn with an open mind. There is a lot of false ideas out there as to what truly entails AP (attachment parenting) it's NOT about never saying No, it's not about always having the child be right. It's about raising individuals who have respect for themselves and for other people and being responsible for their actions. It's about raising individuals who are safe and secure in their environment. So what if that means a 5yo still breastfeeds?!?! Who cares! Obviously that child needs the nourishment and connection. I have yet to ever see a Mama FORCE their child to breastfeed and when you think about it, it's impossible to force anyone to breastfeed as the whole act of breastfeeding requires the person to be an active participant.

The sheer idea that it's expensive to AP is complete hogwash, I can't even believe people suggest that. So it's more economical to buy a $500 strollers, and brand name clothes and special jumpers and bouncy seats and seats that vibrate (which by the way I had) As opposed to buying a wrap or a meitai and clothes at a thrift store?!?! I am confused.

Also, in this day and age where a lot of mama's have to employed outside the house, AP offers even much more to you and your child, including co-sleeping. I can't even begin with the whole it's dangerous to co-sleep...what?...WHAT?!?!!? Are you for real?!?!?! Of course, if you are under the influence of a substance (even tylenol) that can disrupt your natural sleep cycle , then yes, I would say not safe. But given a normal bed with cotton sheets (no silk or polyester junk) and no pillows for the babe, it is perfectly natural and normal to sleep with your children. No, they won't want to sleep with you when they are in college. Children naturally migrate out of the family bed when they are ready and that can be anywhere between 3-10 yo.

This is not a fad, this is not just for hippies, this is not spoiling children. This is a natural way to parent and if most parents would just listen to their intuition and follow their guts with parenting, they would see that this style comes naturally.

Thank you Mayim for taking a stand and speaking out about natural parenting.

Oh and by the way, breastmilk is a wonder drug and can cure a load of stuff...including pink eye! (ask me, I know)

Where has January Gone?

Yes, I do realize that it now the last few days of January and I still have yet to post pictures dating as far back as the end of November. Is this where I can play the "I have seven children" card?!?!lol
*sigh* I will eventually get to it, if not for the sake of saving myself therapy bills from the children who did not get their birthday pictures posted on their Mama's blog! HA!

My brain is a complete pile of mush, now that may not be much of a surprise to some...har har....but in all reality it truly feels like it is. This is Brain Fog and is a symptom of Fibromyalgia and yes, Celiac. Brain Fog really bites, it is not fun being lost in a complete sentence or totally blanking out on someone's name or other information that you know.  Thank goodness this is temporary. Thank goodness that very soon I can make it all better!

The dinner theater we went to on Sunday night was positively awesome! We had so much fun. It was fully interactive and hilarious. We get to experience another dinner theater on Tuesday evening as well. Bill won tickets again to a different venue. It's a bit more formal and a little less interactive, but it is supposed to be just as wonderful. Exciting!

You may notice on the left hand side of my blog here that there is a button labeled 'A Year of Choice'. If you click on it and follow to the site it explains what it means. Yes, it is from last year, but I just came across it and I thought it was a fantastic idea for this year as well. (Well, every year for that matter) I think we as human beings have a choice for everything, even if it is just in how we react to a situation. I know life can toss us sticky, yucky messes but we can ALWAYS choose how we respond and react to them. I think if we all try to keep that in mind, we could all be better off emotionally. Keeping in mind that anger is a response to our needs not being met. This is one of my biggest goals for this year, to really focus on emotional well being. It's an interesting journey. There is sooooo much negativity filled in this world and I truly believe it creates a negative energy force that can engulf and encompass us if we allow it. So we can choose to focus on positivity and surround ourselves with positive energy which will in turn attract more positive energy. I firmly believe we manifest what we think, so as the saying goes 'Think Happy Thoughts'

My choice this week has been staying positive while Bill has had to work late almost all week. It really sucks when he isn't home for dinner (we eat dinner as a family EVERY night) and not until later on in the evening, so I decided to try out some new recipes for dinner (the kids are typically more adventurous with different tastes) and I also made some killer desserts (which we have saved for Daddy to enjoy when he gets home!!) So while it is crappy not having him here for dinner, I was able to focus that energy towards something else and make it positive! Yay!

Of course the biggest challenge has been staying focused on positivity while doing this Gluten Challenge...ugh.....but, it will answer some questions and be worth it in the end. The best part about it is I know what is causing all my discomfort and I know I will be better in a couple of weeks where as before, I had no clue what was wrong and if I would ever figure it out!

On that note, here's to sending you all positive energy!!
Blessed be!

November has arrived!!

Wowsa, in a blink of an eye a month vanishes from me! We are all doing quite well and adjusting to life in winter! Our temperatures have still been quite normal and we only have a light dusting of snow on the ground, but the season has definitely changed!!

Our house is completely decorated for Christmas (minus the Christmas tree, which is a possibility for this weekend) and everything is all a go outside...we even had the lights on last night....yipppeee!!!
I will try and get some pics up soon of Christmas at our House. I still want to get some pics up of Halloween!! GAH!!!

Chelsea, our new doggie, has been adjusting nicely as well. We all love her so much, she is such a gentle creature...but she sure loves to play!! She is very routine orientated, which is nice.

Blessings!

A Day at the Dentist

Today was dentist day. Have I mentioned how much I love our dentist? Well, it's definitely worth  sharing. They are all awesome there and my kids love them too. I walked in there and reminded them that we don't want anyone to have a flouride treatment and no x-rays (except for Alex ) and no one batted an eye. No one tried to convince me that my children will suffer greatly without a flouride treatment. Nope, nothing. Just a simple, "Okay, I'll make sure that is marked down". *sigh* Yes, somethings are easy sometimes. I LOVE that I didn't have to defend myself or go into great detail as to why I don't want flouride within a 100 feet of my children's mouths .

Mind you, there really isn't much argument since no one has any cavities. ;)

Tomorrow is Kayla's ninth birthday. NINE!! *gasp* Time is going by so quickly!! We aren't doing much for her birthday but having some cake and dinner on the weekend. I guess we will have a cake for me too, since it was my birthday on Monday!
Tomorrow is also grocery shopping day and I have not even started my menus and lists yet. We go to about 5 different places and won't even be able to complete it all tomorrow night. Some will have to be done on Friday night. *sigh*

I also have to get my homeschool learning plans typed up (they're hand written right now) I am also just awaiting the last of my curriculum order to make sure I will have the supplies I need for the year.

Well, this was quite the random post, eh?!?! As I get back into writing on here, I plan on writing some essays on more particular subjects that I have in mind.
I am planning on getting some pics on here soon!

Blessings!

Ummm, so it's May now

Okay, so please accept my apologies for my lack of posting.  We have been so busy lately! It has been pretty beautiful here lately and even most of April. (well minus the snow storm the last week of April) We have been outside so much. Going for walks and just hanging out in the backyard when we can. I've also been super busy organizing my homeschool shelves and putting together some stuff for selling, as well as trimming out some of the activities we didn't use this year. Next comes planning 'next year', although we actually homeschool year-round because learning never stops!!

As for right now we are getting ready for summer holidays!! True holidays! I cannot wait to get on the highway and see family!
Although it's a major undertaking with this many people to pack for!lol I start good and early.
Need to make all kinds of stuff to take (sunscreen, deodorant, body scrubs, dehydrated crackers and granola bars. GF bread for Breanna and I and the gazillion other things we need)

Mariah's 6th birthday is coming up (can you believe I have been blogging for over 6years now!) I cannot believe how quickly time has passed. We are celebrating her birthday this weekend and it's a long weekend too!
Breanna is doing awesome! Both her and I are still on a GF/CF diet. I may try her with dairy close to her birthday and see what happens. I, myself, will not be going back to a diet with gluten even after Breanna is done nursing. I have never felt so amazing as I do right now. Compared to a couple of years ago, I do not take any medication for my Fibro AT ALL! Nothing, nada! I sleep better, I have more energy, it's incredible how much better one can feel when your body isn't bogged down with junk. Our diets as a family have completely changed as well and I notice a significant difference in everyone. I do yoga every night and it feels awesome!!!
Breanna still isn't walking totally yet. She is such a turkey! If no one is watching she will walk around the living room but as soon as she knows someone is looking, she drops to her knees and starts crawling!!lol
She says quite a bit and understands a ton! She loves to play outside and especially loves to play in the rocks at the playground!
Kayla is doing really good too! She just lost another tooth, so we keep teasing her that she looks like a jack-o-lantern!lol She is doing super awesome with her reading and writing and really enjoys hanging out with her big sister doing 'big kid' stuff since she is going to be 8 this fall!
Robbie is doing really good as well, he has been loving the fact that his brother has been handing down some much coveted Star Wars Lego! He builds things just from his head, it amazes me!I can see him being a Professional Lego builder (oh yes they do exist!! google Robin Sather) or an architect.
Alyssa is embarking on breaking into teenagedom, she is really geared up for babysitting coming up this fall. At least she can say she has a ton of experience!lol She has also been loving collecting Bratz dolls, she has over 50 now! (the baby sitting will help support that hobby)
Alex is doing good, enjoying time spent on world of warcraft..lol....he has his sights set on becoming a Web/game graphic designer! He is now quite a bit taller than me, which is really helpful in the kitchen when I need something from the very top shelves....lol! It's pretty cool having a teenager so far, I love their ideas and being able to have almost adult conversations with him.
Matthew is growing like crazy! He has quite the personality and always makes us laugh with his antics (and sometimes frustrates me to no end with the same antics!!lol) He has an amazing smile and the best giggle! He has just learned that he can use his fingers to count and always comes up to me holding his fingers up asking me what number is it! He loves Toy Story 1 and 2 and especially loves Wall-E!
Whew!
Bill is doing awesome! He's totally changed his eating and has been exercising as well. He's dropped almost 30lbs! He looks awesome and feels really good!

Well, there's a brief little catch up on the family! :o) Now I need to get snacks going and dinner on the go!

Blessings!

And the Dentist says...........

We went for a check up on Monday to the dentist. While I don't do well-baby checks or even yearly checkups (unless there is a concern) we do all go for pretty regular dental checkups. All of the children have awesome teeth. No cavities at all.(the dentist and hygenist were very impressed) Barely anything to really clean off. Now, here's a secret that I am sharing. It's just between you and I internet. I do not make my kids brush their teeth.  There, I said it. Oh sure, I tell them before bed to brush their teeth, but I certainly do not stand over and observe the process. I definitley do not have them floss. I attribute their oral health to their diets and abundance of fresh veggies. They all LOVE fresh veggies. Also, no fruit juice and processed foods make an impact as well. I don't believe cavities are all about the sugar, while I believe it's a significant contribution, it's not the only reason.

I do hope that their oral health will continue, I am certain it will if they continue with a healthy diet filled with wholesome nourishing foods.

I on the other hand am still reaping the effects of my past diet...ugh. Just a few more cavities to fill up in my lower jaw in May. A wisdom tooth to pull in the very near future and my new permanent partial plate soon as well. Then, I should finally be done with all my dental trauma and can hopefully take care of my remaining teeth. If only I could go back in time and smack that girl who drank so much soda and ate so much junk.....hind sight is, as they say 20/20.

On the table for the rest of the week grocery shopping this weekend. Valentine's Day treats and Daddy's birthday dinner this weekend too!!

Waiting patiently for spring, I NEED some trees and grass and to feel warm sun on my face.  I can't remember a time where I have wanted that season so badly. Normally I am the winter girl and content to have months of winter's beauty upon us. This year, the Ice princess needs to be on her merry way to let the fresh renewal of spring surround me. Her promise of growth and rejuvenation and life.
We have changed so much in the last year or so. Our eating, thinking and whole approach to life. I feel more changes are coming and I am excited. Excitied to see what the journey has to show and where this path will take us. Growth can only happen when we open ourselves up to it and allow it to take place, even if we are unsure of where it will take us.

Let the journey begin!!
Blessings♥♥

Just another day

It is beautiful outside today, a gentle breeze and bright sunshine. I am listening and watching the kids laugh and chase each other around the park enjoying every second of it.  Playing games, chasing games no doubt! Tag is always a big hit around here...who could tire of endless rounds of Frozen Tag?!?!?

I have an annoying headache and random body aches, so what better thing to do than sip on tea and blog!!

We officially are fully decorated for Christmas! A bit earlier than normal with reagrds to the tree, but it couldn't be helped this year.  My mom bought us one as our family christmas present this year! What a perfect Christmas present I think!!
Now the fun can begin with our Christmas gift making!! I am soooo excited to get going on that! I do still need to buy a few things to make or help make the gifts, but mostly everything is handmade this year!!

Well, I have a gaggle of children that are heading this way, most likely in search of a drink and snack and then possibly some handheld microscopes to search for creepy things living in our backyard or perhaps a pixie or two!!!
Here's some pics of the last week or so...notcie the abrupt change in holidays!!lol I take down and start decorating for Christmas early the morning of the 1st of November! Normally though, Bill leaves for work in the morning with a Fall theme surrounding his house and comes home to Christmas...lol...it's pretty funny!!
Although the tree is a family affair, no one can miss that. I LOVE LOVE LOVE family traditions and can't get enough of them. They build such a sense of togetherness and unity in a family.

here's the promised pics:

Grocery Challenge and other Randomness

Okay, so over at Owlhaven's there's a grocery challenge going on for the month of September. Typically it's super difficult for me to join in on these things because no matter how hard I try, I cannot get our budget under $100 CAD for a week and still maintain a level of nutrition that we have become accustomed too. I don't have access to any nifty grocery stores like my American friends do and we live in a fairly expensive city. Soooooo, with all these odds piled against me, I try my best.
I decided to join in even though I am unable to meet the $75 (or $80 approx in CAD). I am however challenging myself since our grocery budget took a 39% drop this month.
We don't shop weekly anymore, discovered it was a bit more time consuming than it was worth. We're back to every two weeks since that is how payday works here. So here's the breakdown. This month grocery shopping took place on the 1st and it will again on the 15th, unfortunately, we have a homeowners class that day so I will most likely stretch the food I have on hand until the 19th which is the Saturday. That way, I can hit both stores that I shop at (Superstore and Costco) all in the same day instead of one the 16th and the other the 17th which would mean the kids were out three evenings in a row which is not a good scenario in this household!!lol
WHEW!!
So far my budget last week was set at $640 CAD(for two weeks and a few days worth of food), I came in at $258 at Superstore and $333 at Costco.
So that brought us in at $591. We used approx $10 to buy a couple of coffee's while we were out and about on the weekend, which left me about $30 and I also had a $25 gift card (Superstore sometimes offers a free item or a gift card when you spend a certain amount usually $250) so I used that and grabbed some fresh veggies, frozen raspberries, goatcheese, silk creamer, eggs, milk and some fruit. That total came to $56, but only just under $32 from pocket.
So my grocery budget total for the first two weeks was pretty close to bang on.

We'll see if I can hit the next round likewise! That budget will be $550, so a bit lower. I had to take some funds out of it for the Used toy and clothing sale (which I am praying I will make it to be in, tables went on sale on the first but I couldn't budget it in until after the 15th so hopefully tables will still be available!!!) so that trip should be a bit interesting to make work. A challenge no doubt!!

So onto some randomness.....
It was a long weekend here so we had daddy for three whole days! Saturday we went and spent the day at the zoo, it was a lot of fun. The weather was pleasant, not too hot and not too cool. We had a long leisurely picnic lunch which was really nice. The kids ran and played in the field area while Bill and I chatted while I fed Breanna. Just a nice, easy going day!
Sunday we had some company come by for a quick visit. Auntie Elaine and Uncle Mike came and brought us an extra dresser they had as well as Bill's mom's old sewing machine for Alyssa. As well as some lovely towels and a treat for the kids as a housewarming gift. It was really nice seeing them again, hopefully we can arrange for another visit before the roads get too difficult with winter.
After they left, we decided it was time to go through fall and winter clothes and pack away the majority of summer stuff. Time to see who needs what and all that good stuff. They are always amazed to visually see just how much they have grown (as opposed to hearing me tell them how much they've grown!!lol) Some were a little upset to see a favourite piece of clothing get passed down to a sibling. Me on the other hand, doing a seasonal clothing switch is always rather bittersweet. Since I will remember a shirt having been too big for the oldest and now the youngest is wearing it. Or even the clothing that has been passed onto us from friends, I will remember a shirt that was worn by a certain boy who is now in Junior High!!!(Hi Kerri!!!) or as Matthew slips on a pair of pants from another friend who's little boy was born the same year as Mariah (hi Diana!!)..my goodness!!!
We also decided that Breanna looks a lot like Mariah, even more so when she had a sleeper on that Mariah wore around the same age.(Mariah was very petite...only weighing 20lbs at 18mos!!!)

So now I have a list of items the kids need for this fall and winter all ready to go!!

This week is somewhat busy, homeowners class tomorrow night. Although this one doesn't necessarily have anything to do with 'homeownership' since it is being put on by social services and is being called In-Sync parenting: strengthening the parent child bond...hmmmmm. I am keeping an open mind, or rather, I'm trying desperately hard to keep an open mind. These little classes put on my social service rarely align with our thoughts and actions pertaining to parenting such as Attachment Parenting. But, we'll see! At any rate, it's only two hours long and it's an important part of our partnership with Habitat.

Oh yeah, not only is it my favourite time of year...it's also a kickoff to a run of Birthdays over the next few months. Here's Septembers lineup!!
-ME!!! on the 12th
-my Grandma on the 14th
-Kayla on the 15th
-Auntie Cherie on the 19th
-Nana's birthday would've been on the 28th(that is going to be a difficult day)
Nothing planned for my birthday, the kids want to bake me a WF/CF birthday cake, so we may do that. I'm totally oblivious to my birthday and sometimes even forget my age, it feels strange to say "Ya, I'll be 31" since I clearly remember MY parents being 'in their thirties'!!lol
Oh well, the old adage stands true "You're only as old as you think you are" !!

On that note, have a blessed day!!

Some of My Fav's and things I *heart*

I have been using this most awesome 'stuff' for everything from general cleaning around the house to laundry to getting stains out of the carpet to getting permanent marker off of our lcd computer screen. This stuff works and it works SOOOOO good. I have yet to come across something it will not clean. The best part? It's completely harmless!! No harsh fumes. No damage to your skin or surfaces!!
Some of you may have already heard of it. This awesome stuff is called
I honestly cannot say enough good things about this stuff, I HIGHLY recommend it!!

Next on my list is this, these bags are incredible and have increased the freshness of our produce by the very least 5 days and in some cases even longer! Imagine nice yellow banana's for almost 12 days!! Crisp celery for 3 wks!! Apples fresh for up to 2wks...the list goes on! They are reusable and washable, so if you don't mind washing your bags (I wash all my ziploc bags so this wasn't a new thing for me) This will save you money and worth the initial cost of the bags!

Next on my list is this awesome website oh how I have been *swooning* over this place, it's a combination of my fav things. Taking pics and then creating a fabric out of it for sewing!!
Of course you do not need pics, you can use different methods. But let me tell you, it has my creative juices flowing like wildfire!! Unfortunately for me, we do not use credit cards so my chances of doing this are slim to none. boohoo.

HOWEVER, just for today(Aug.20th) they are offering two FREE swatches check out THIS for more info.
Have fun!!

I'll be back with a challenge in my next post!!!
Blessings!

~Happy Birthday Robbie~

*I will add pics soon*

I cannot believe Robbie is 9 years old!!! The last year of single digits!!

Robbie was born at 2:36pm(Matthew was 2:36AM) about an hour or so after they broke my water. He was my most jaundiced baby, but never had to undergo any light therapy. He was also my first summer baby! It was no hot that year!! His due date was always undecided and changed with almost every ultrasound...the last date they gave me was July 31st. He was born on July 19th and weighed 7lbs 7ozs(same weight as Alyssa). He took to breastfeeding immediately with no issues and was a fairly easy baby all around. As long as he had his food and sleep, that is!!!

Unfortunately due to some extremely unintelligent misinformation relayed between a dentist and a public health nurse, our breastfeeding relationship came to an end MUCH to early. (if only, I knew then what I know now.....hind sight is 20/20) Of course, I was still pretty much on board with 'health dictorates' and accepting their recommendation as a be all in information.

Robbie was an easy toddler in the sense of knowing what he wanted/needed. When he was tired, he fell asleep. Didn't matter where we were or what we were doing!!lol He ate very well and loved to try new things. He had absolutely no desire to potty train or give up his bottle, so he had both until about a month before Mariah was born. He didn't like to get his hands 'mucky' so rarely got into things that would result in that scenario. He did however, LOVE to draw and still does to this day.

He is our resident problem solver and can see a mess of objects and be able to put them together in a snap. He is a mastermind at puzzles and math problems and learnt adding and subtracting in a day. He loves to create things with his insane, copious amount of Lego and K'Nex. His drawings are incredible and beautiful. He is the first to never have stepped foot in a traditional school.

He is an avid Star Wars fan and that required a DarthVader birthday cake and party favors!!

He is extremely kind hearted and once told me "I am going to tell my wife that I love her and she is beautiful every single day" Yup, that is my guy!

He is special and unique and I admire his talents and only hope that he will continue to flourish and grow as he grows!!

~Happy Birthday~

Photobucket

Miss Mariah is FIVE years old today!!

She was such a super quiet baby, rarely ever made a noise and was a super tiny baby too. She was my tiniest baby before Breanna, weighing in at 6lbs 9ozs.

She was my first *induced* baby since Kayla had been so fast I was seduced into believing that a 'controlled' labour and delivery was much safer. *sigh* Praise the Lord, she was born at 10:50am with no complications and was happily nursing an hour later.

newmommy

She has stayed tiny pretty much her entire life thus far...it's hard to believe she was THIS tiny though

newdaddy

She was also my very first spring baby and I spent a lot of the time freaking out trying to figure out is she was getting cold or too hot!! Never the less, we still ventured out to enjoy the sunshine.

*oh-my, look how little they all are!! Remember this Kerri???*

This is how you looked 98.9% of the time:
mariah
intently watching the world around you and of course being entertained by your older siblings and absorbing like a sponge all their crazy antics!

*one year later at the lake*

Your toddler years were interesting as you were no longer the quiet tiny weenie baby, you became an extremely talkative-get-into-everything toddler! You got into everything!!! You loved making a mess and squishing things between your fingers. The gooier the better in your mind!!

*there are many, many pics like this...I only had a select few on my photobucket*

Now you have blossomed into an inquisitive, beautiful little girl! You are still a chatter box and love to tell stories. You are extremely honest, and do not hesitate to tell the truth to anyone, anywhere, anytime. We are still working on your developing some tact and consideration with your assertiveness.
You are very caring and love to be in charge. You are creative and love to get dirty and seek out activities to facilitate that desire. You are also a wonderful helper and are the first one to do a helpful chore without being asked, simply to help me out.

Happy fifth birthday sweetie, and I promise not to let anyone else "annoy you in the head with singing Happy Birthday"

Terrific Tuesday!!!

Well, better than last week anyways!lol

We had a good weekend, busy, but good. Saturday we basically spent the day grocery shopping or at least it feels like that anyways. Can I just say again how much I love my natural health food store?!?! It is so nice to have that 'market' feeling while buying groceries, I could spend hours in there...easily!!

Then it was off to the big store, where there are aisles and aisles of junk....to which only a few things found their way into my cart. C'mon Bill!!!!
I am very happy to see that they now have antibiotic/hormone free ground beef in addition to pork and chicken products. That makes me feel a whole lot better about feeding my family. Now they just need to get some dairy products like that!!

Then on Sunday we went for a drive and ended up at a little public park area and the lake had been drained from it so there was this huge area of sand for them to play in. It was sooooo windy, but they had fun none-the-less. Here's some pics:

There are Days like This

Yes, there are!
These are the days when I wonder if it is truly going to happen, my brains have melted and are soon going to begin oozing from my ears. It's true ya know, it CAN happen!

The children are whiny and have found great enjoyment in tormenting me each other. As the day has progressed I am no longer nicely "asking" the children to please stop doing 'fill-in-the-blank' , I have now evolved into begging for the love of all mighty STOP!!!

"PLEASE stop telling your sister she smells"
"PLEASE stop hiding your sisters dolls or tying them up and hanging them from the roof or curtain rods"
"PLEASE stop telling your sister that she will in fact permanently smell like a fart should you do so while sitting beside her"

"For the love of all things holy, STOP hiding at the bottom of the stairs and scaring the daylights out of poor unsuspecting people who are making their way down the stairs"
For your information your mother no longer falls into this category as you have all shattered every fragment of nerves I have or have ever been in possession of.

"No you may not drink the science experiment water"
"No you may not create a science experiment involving your sister or her belongings"
"Put your pants back on and stop licking the table"
"Your brother IS NOT a science experiment gone wrong"
"You may not shave your brothers head, no matter how badly he thinks it sounds like fun"
"The fluoride free toothpaste IS NOT a snack"
"We don't lick the dog"

"Get the nail clippers if you need to trim your nails, we don't BITE our toenails and ingest them"
*yup, that makes me slightly nauseous as well*

To think this was all in the span of an hour.
Did I mention that it has been a cross between pouring rain and hailing outside? Or is that just the sound of my brain cells depleting and seeping out??????

Blessings!!!

Shall I put rocks in my pocket?

oh wait, they're already there!lol It's supposed to get very windy here in a bit, which means where we live now, I should be making advance preparations otherwise I will find myself in a place where everyone is 3 feet tall and telling me what to do...hmmmmm oh wait, I'm already there!!lol

Well it looks as though the guys are all done outside. I'm not sure what comes next, I'm assuming the fence? Sidewalk paving? Who knows! I think I need to accept that I will not have much of a garden this year. Hmph! Most of what I would like to plant should've been started indoors already. Unfortunately, I have no idea how it is going to be set up outside and where exactly I'll be able to garden. I am going to do some bucket gardening though and hopefully get a few things planted. Hopefully!

The excitement is building about our holidays!!
I was so lucky and scooped up a luggage set off of Freecycle, I think if I can find one or two more large ones, I'm set in that department. So here's the list of stuff to get/do:
*suitcases/luggage
*two or three large coolers (47-50L size)
*make a 'to bring' list
*plan out menus and food stuff for those two weeks

Blessings!!

Where oh where art thou sun........

thy needth shine it's rays of warmth upon my weary soul................

Six months of winter is more than enough for me.....I'm done! I want green grass and sunshine. I want to have my windows open with warm breezes dancing around my curtains. I want to see and smell flowers. That's not too much to ask, is it?
Gosh, I think at this point I would even settle with temps being, oh I don't know......ABOVE THE FREEZING MARK!!!!!lol Hopefully the weather dudes are correct with their forecast.....warmth is on the way!

On the agenda today, other than the typical stuff, grocery shopping tonight. Which means I need to get the rest of my list/menu's done and the fridge cleaned out! This will be the first time we have purposely started grocery shopping weekly. Believe it or not, but it's going to take a bit of getting used to! My brain is wired to buying enough of everything for two weeks and even still, some of the stuff is cheaper to purchase in bulk despite the initial cost (which may increase my weekly amount). I will however, enjoy have regular fresh produce! I'm hoping that the weekly sales will also help with saving money in the month. (I will hit all four sales rather than just 2 per month).
For example, this trip there is a coupon for a free $25 gift card for spending $250. Since I will be spending $500, I will receive 2 gift cards to use towards my next trip. So, next week I will be able to use whatever coupon they have PLUS my gift cards. (sometimes they offer $30 when you spend $250 as well or free items like a ham) We'll see how it goes!

In other news, Mariah has mastered the art of writing her name! Which is awesome because now I know it's her who's writing on the walls since she wrote her name all over!!!lol Ooooops!!hehe Too funny.

Breanna has mastered rotating herself around in circles....she resembles a clock!!lol!! Her head stays put and her body rotates around in a circle, it's hilarious!!

Blessings!

Fly me Away...................................

We had an awesome weekend! Our flight on Saturday was amazing and such a cool experience. I thought for sure since I am terrified of heights, that I would hate flying....I LOVED it! It was such a thrill when the pilot would turn and the plane would tip to one side and our tummies would feel alive and full of butterflies!
Here's our plane and the fabulous pilot we had:

It was a really fun time. Both Breanna and Matthew did fine with their ears and stuff. Breanna seemed a little bit uncomfortable during the pressurizing of the cabin, but then was fine.

I will try to get menu monday up here soon!!

Blessings!
