A new week........

If I could turn off my hormonal irrationality it would go much better!!!LOL
Whoa, it's amazing how you not only forget the pain of childbirth, but a lot of the aspects of pregnancy that go with it. I have been an emotional wreck the past couple of days. I can and will cry (sob in hysterics) over the littlest thing, and then at the drop of a dime I can laugh! I am also in full fledged panic mode as well. I still do not have a car seat for Matthew and my mother seems to be the least concerned about it. I have a feeling that she thinks she will just bring it up to the hospital after I've had him. However, I would much rather already have the base installed and have it all ready for Matthew (I have one of those zipper pouch thingy's that goes inside) instead of poor Bill having to be in the hospital parking lot setting it all up and removing paper packaging and reading instructions, whilst Matthew and I are waiting!! Does that seem irrational? I dunno, but it had me in tears on Saturday. I could technically go into labour any day now, and to not have anything to bring him home in is REALLY freaking me out. The one that I got off freecycle was in an obvious car accident and the base is not usable, however I know that the infant seats can be used without the base....but do I really want to take the chance?!?! UGH!!! I really hate relying on my mother sometimes. She had told back in July that I didn't have to worry about a car seat (because I had told what I had gotten off of Freecycle) and so I haven't, but now I am starting to get anxious, I'm sure it has something to do with nesting and wanting to have everything in order.

I'm going out on Wednesday night with Kerri (she's braving a public siting with the human Yeti!!) to get diapers and a few other things, so I'll feel better then too.

Also, is it really rational to be teary because Superstore is out of girls treat bags? Or that my shirts no longer cover my entire belly? I'm trying hard to relax and enjoy what is most likely the last couple of days of this pregnancy and except for my now regular (every 8-10min) contractions, I feel pretty darn good!!!

As for other things that happened during the weekend.........
Robbie has now officially joined the 'big kid' crew because after much hard work:

Hard at work, wiggling and twisting

We have a new BIG KID in the house..............

The very first lost tooth!!!!!

HURRAY!!!! Congratulations Robbie!!!!

On Friday I noticed that Kayla's hair looked a little shorter on one side. Upon careful inspection, I discovered that she has cut a good chunk of her hair off!!!! Then on Saturday, I noticed that it was a little shorter on the other side! Good grief, so I had to give Kayla a new haircut, and it kills me because her hair was getting so long and had perfect little ringlets!!! Ah well, I guess it's just hair and it will grow back. She also cut a bit off of Mariah's as well, but thankfully it's not as noticeable.

The length of hair I had to cut...........

The length of hair that needed to be cut

The new style!!!

The new 'do

At a different angle....

A better look at her new haircut

Oh and also, if you need me....I will be dusting off a nice little spot on a shelf to place my WORST MOTHER OF THE YEAR award. Why will I be accepting this award???? Because even though Robbie lost his tooth on Saturday, the tooth fairy did not come. OK, so once is MAYBE allowed, BUT, she also did not come last night either.....*sigh*....yes I am very upset with myself over this. His very first tooth, and I forget TWO nights in a row...*hanging head in shame*.
The weather has been horrible the last couple of nights, actual snowstorms!!! So we are blaming the poor weather on the tooth fairy's failure to show.

Sorry for the venting, whining, pity party post. Back to trying to finish up some school modules with the kids so we can have a day of activities tomorrow!! Next pics Will be our halloween day!!!!

Have a blessed Monday!!

Doctors Appointment

Happy Monday!!!

Here's the latest scoop from my 37week appointment!!
HB:145
Blood pressure: 100/60
weight:130 (but I'm sure it said 135, the nurse was looking at it over her desk)
measuring:37.5 weeks
and I am dilated to a 'good' 1cm!!!

Next appointment is Nov.3rd and we should be scheduling the induction that day(although not for that exact day, I don't think)!!!
WHOOHOO!!!!

POsted a couple new pics in the flickr, I was playing with my camera in the mirror!! I so totally love that trick!!!LOL!!

I'm also going to be doing a regular belly pic tonight for the top of my blog, only about two pics left for that....:o(

Well, time to start bedtime routine!! Have a blessed Monday night!!!!
Sunday, October 22, 2006

Look what I made!!!!!

It's a lumpy, bumpy, Nursing Pillow!!!LOL I made this with no pattern and in less than 1/2 an hour, the stuffing part took the longest because I wanted it pretty firm.
What do ya think?!?!LOL

My homemade Nursing Pillow!!!

I also finished up baby Matthew's Room today as well, I posted the pics in my Flickr!!

Three things, there is no crib, change table, or dresser. His pack 'n' play is set up in our room and when I get it all set up, I'll take a pic. It will eventually go in the far right hand corner of his room. I don't have a dresser for him either, still keeping my eye out for one on Freeycycle. For now, he has a hanging shelf in is closet that holds all his tiny outfits perfectly!! I also do not use change tables, I had one for a couple of years, but got rid of it just before Mariah was born. All I ever used it for was to take up space and hold JUNK!!!LOL I have a mini change station set up at the foot of the bed in his room, and all his supplies will be in a portable basket. I usually just end up changing my babies wherever!!!LOL

I think I am all set and ready for Matthew. I will have to get a couple packs of disposable diapers. The hospital where I deliver doesn't supply you with them. Besides, cleaning those first poo's out of cloth diapers is really not fun!!LOL
Oh and I'm also waiting for my mom to go and get the carseat!! That is a very important part, if I plan on bringing him home!!!LOL

Have a blessed Evening!!!

A Blessed Weekend!!

This weekend was such a blessing and I am feeling all warm and fuzzy!!LOL
I just have to say that I am so blessed to have the friends and family that I do!!

On Friday, Auntie Shellie dropped by with a huge blessing for us and I am so very grateful for her thoughtfulness. It still makes me teary thinking about it!!! There just really aren't words sometimes to express the depth of gratitude you feel towards someone, and this is definitely one of those times!!

Then, on Saturday, it was............

The balloons

Baby Shower Day!!!!
It was a little chaotic, due to the fact that I was just over an hour late...for my OWN baby shower!!! I was supposed to go with my mom to pick up my Grandmother at the nursing home, however, my mom and sister were a little late arriving and thus we we're late leaving. Then of course traffic would be an absolute nightmare, and then to top it all off, after spending over 45min fighting traffic, we arrive at my Grandmother's only to have her say that she wasn't feeling well and wasn't coming!!!ARGHHHH!!! I mean I can totally understand her not feeling well, but she could've called!!!!!LOL Ah well, getting home was a bit quicker, just that I was late. I felt so terrible and I hope everyone was OK with having to have waited for me for so long!!

But, it was a great time, and we managed to play all the games and do gift opening and have a quick visit all in about an hour!! I really feel sad that I missed the first hour, I was really looking forward to visiting with everyone!! Baby Matthew and I were blessed with wonderful gifts and I am so excited to put them all to use!!!
Once again, I get teary thinking about the whole thing, because I am just so blessed to have these people in my lives!!!

I posted pics in the Flickr and I added notes to the main pics, my sister managed to get every quirky expression I made on film, but that's OKay, it's who I am!!!

We didn't get any pics of the games we played, but we played three. One was were there was two teams and they had to design a diaper for me to wear out of toilet paper and duct tape (or masking tape) I got to choose which diaper I thought was the best, I had to be biased and go with Alyssa's team. Alyssa designed the whole thing and I think they did a fabulous job!! We also played Baby Bingo, which had Auntie Shellie winning first, Jana and Connery taking second and Alyssa scooping up third!! Good job!!! The other game we played was the Guess Mama's Circumference!!LOL That was hilarious. Everyone got the roll of string and had to guess how much would fit around my belly, some of the measurements were just too funny!!!(like my Mom's!!!LOL), Alyssa won that one as well!!! She was the closest without going over!! Way to go Alyssa!!!

It was a really nice time and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as I did!!!

The boys had a great time too!! They went for a boys day out with Daddy and Uncle Brad and fed their testosterone at Future Shop and stores of the like!!!LOL Ya know, boring BOY stuff!!!LOL!!

And for today, I am just relaxing and washing all my new baby stuff!!! I cannot believe Matthew will be here in about 2 weeks!!! YIKES!!!!

I will share my guesstimate here, although it's different from the one at Expectnet.com So here it is, my final guess!!LOL
DAY: Sunday Nov, 5th
TIME: early am, before 8am
WEIGHT: 7lbs 9ozs (this was what he weighed in a dream I had awhile back and it has stuck in my mind!! This would make him my biggest baby.....by 2ozs!!LOL)
LENGTH:20 1/2 inches (this is the typical length of my babies!!LOL)

This is kind of my hope as well!!! In my 'fantasy', I will go in late Saturday night(for the induction) and he will be born early Sunday morning. That way I can come home by early/late afternoon...works for me!!!LOL I cannot wait to see him and see what his personality is like!! I often wonder if he'll be a thumbsucker outside of the womb (he has been sucking his thumb since he was 16wks old!!!) or if he'll sleep between the hours of 2-5am, like he does in utereo. Soon enough!!!

Well, I guess I should get motivated, although the couch is calling my name!!LOL I can't complain about this pregnancy at all (other than the few instances of spotting/bleeding earlier on) I feel REALLY good right now, my back is holding out and my ribs are doing well. Every once in awhile he wedges his head on my tailbone and that DOES hurt, but that's about it for aches 'n' pains. I have noticed that my contractions are trying to get into a rhythm, they will pick up and go for every 6min for about an hour and then peter out, so at my appointment tomorrow, I have a feeling I'll be either at 3cm or very close...we'll see!!! I'll post my appointment results when I'm back, I'm not missing this one, I figured I should go, since I'll be 37wks and haven't had the GBS test done yet. I've never tested positive before, but I've just recently learned that you can test negative and then all of sudden test positive and vice versa!! Sometimes in the same pregnancy!!! Weird huh?!?! Sixth time around and I'm still learning nw things!!!LOL

Okay, I'm really going now!!LOL
Have a wonderfully blessed Lord's Day!!

~updated~

to add that I posted the grocery list in the food blog!!

God bless!!
~Penny

It's almost the weekend!!!!

Today has been an 'interesting' day with my oldest. He has had a poor attitude for most of the day. I think it's mostly because I let him stay up a bit later to watch his dad play his computer game...so I guess you reap what you sow, huh?!?!?

Anyways, other than that, it's been a typical day. Tomorrow will be a bit busier as I am taking my three girls out first thing in the morning to go grocery shopping and then we're coming home and cleaning!!! No school for them tomorrow, or I guess we could call it a life skills day!!LOL

Oh, I was doing laundry the other day and overheard Kayla playing in her room....it was too cute not to catch on video!!!

Isn't that just the funniest thing???

I also received an email and thought I would post my reply here. Thankyou to all of you who take the time to send me emails!! I'm so happy you all find my blog a blessing to your life in some way or another!!
*******************************************
Dear, Penny

I read your blog quite often and I find myself amazed at the things you do and keep a sense a humour about. I only have 2 children (boy 10yrs and girl 4yrs) and can find myself in a stressful mood quite often. Thank you for taking the time to write about your life and how you manage it. Your blog has been such a blessing to me. I had some questions for you and I hope you can answer them, but only when you have the time. I know you are a very busy woman.
1. what are your favorite baby items? I think having so many kids you must have some favorites!!

2. what are your least favorite baby things?
I ask this of you because my good friend from church is having a baby and there are so many baby things out there and it has been so long since I had a baby.

your friend,
Doreen in Manitoba
************************************************

First of all, thankyou so much Doreen for taking the time to write to me!!! I'm so happy you enjoy my blog and are interested in my opinion!!
Here are my answers and I hope you find them helpful!!!
*****************************************
1. Hmmmm, I had to think of some of the things I simply cannot live without when I have a baby and here are some that I can think of:
-baby washcloths (I usually try to have at least 2-3 dozen of these on hand because I use them as bumwipes. I make my own wipe mix and then use it with the cloths)

-receiving blankets (the flannel ones, I use these for everything...burppads, change pads, swaddling you name it!!LOL I try to have 2 dozen of these)

-My Snugli (Mine is one of the old corduroy ones and I have used it since Alex, I LOVE it.)

-my pack 'n' play ( I don't use cribs anymore, so this has been an awesome lifesaver. It goes anywhere and I can use it for so long!!)

-My favourite baby bath products!!(I LOVE the Canus brand of Goat's Milk stuff, I have only found it at The real Canadian Superstore, but I highly recommend this product. It smells so fresh and clean and comes in lotions and balms and soaps and shampoo's!! and an AWESOME zinc baby bum cream)

-Newborn and size 1 diapers (I use cloth, but I have always loved and been grateful to receive some packs of disposables, it can make those first few days/weeks a little less stressful)

-a baby chair (like an infant seat, I love the portability of these as well. My new personal favourite is this one baby papasan chair
It looks so cozy!!!(they need to make on in Mama size!!LOL)

- a swing is nice to have as well, although some babies love 'em and some HATE 'em!! I've had a couple of each!!LOL

-my Pump 'n' Style breast pump by Medela. I was so blessed to have one this by entering in a breastfeeding essay, otherwise there was no way I would've ever afforded it!!LOL It is well worth the money though!!!

-breastfeeding pillows (these are a lifesaver in those early weeks and really help position baby)

-my infant car seat bag (I LOVE not having to bundle baby up or worry about snowsuits, just buckle 'em in and zip them up in the bag!! What a dream!!!)

-my new favourite a head position for in the bed!!! After dealing with Mariah's flathead, I simply can't live without mine!!!)

2. I can't really say there is anything I don't like. I guess manual breastpumps, those are so time consuming.

-undershirts that don't attach to the crotch, they always find their way up the poor baby's back and around their neck!!LOL

-baby bath tubs (can you imagine they have baby spa's!!!LOL Gimme a break!!ROFL!!! I only ever used a baby tub with Alex and it was such a pain and messy. I either use a large mixing bowl or just take the babe in the bath with me!!!)

-baby bath towels (I don't have anything against them, I just never found them that useful!!LOL I always end up using a regular soft towel and forget about my infant towels!!LOL)

That's all I can really think of. I guess each Mama is different in what they prefer, but for me, I wouldn't go out of my way to purchase something extra fancy, unless your friend has specifically asked for it. you don't mention if this is her first or not. I hope my answers help you out!!! Best wishes and prayers to you and your family and congrats to your friend!!!

Updated the Food Blog!!!

Happy Tuesday!!!

On here bright and early today!!!

Couple of pics to share, first one is one I took from our front window yesterday morning. Not too bad compared to other's, but it's a white dusting none-the-less!!LOL
It's also supposed to snow the whole week leading up to halloween, good thing the kid's costumes will either fit under or over thier snowsuits!!LOL
*had to remove the snow pic to make room in my flickr!!!*
And of course, gotta throw in a belly pic!!LOL This was last night so pardon my jammies!!LOL I was 36w0d yesterday!!

A 36w0d belly pic!!

Well, time to start the day!! It's still cool outside and there is still some flakes falling here and there, so I think I need to make a big mug of tea!!(I'm looking forward to being able to drink my coffee again, right now it gives me nasty heartburn!!!BLECH!!)

Oh and don't forget to go log in your guess for Matthew's b-day over at:

Yiipppeeee!!!

It's Monday!! ROFL! No, I'm not really excited about that!! But, I am excited about THIS!!!!
Yeah, I know it doesn't take much!!LOL

I think they did a fabulous job of touching it up and re-sizing it!!!

Today has been a typical Monday, other than the fact that it has been snowing all day and it's supposed to continue for the rest of the day. Although we're certainly not getting pounded like my fellow Canadians in Fort Eerie Ontario did last week, or even the poor Buffalo, New Yorker's!!!YIKES!! Now that is a lot of snow!!

I'm not going to my drs today, the road's are just to mucky and being that this is the first bit of accumulated snow we've had this year, I don't want Bill to have to deal with all the morons out there who have forgotten how to drive in snow or poor road conditions, especially during 'rush hour'.. Not that I'm really that upset about it, for some reason I really wasn't into getting checked today, I'm not sure why, but I just had this 'hunch' not to get checked. Oh well, next week I'll go to my appointment and see what is going on, if anything!!

Have a blessed Monday!!
~Penny

It's Saturday!!!!

Ugh, I did not get nearly as much done today as I wanted, but I guess that is the way it goes sometimes!!! As long as the laundry got done, it is all good was my thinking today!!! And, I did get that done!!

Baby Matthew has been a crazy little man in there today!!! I'm not sure what he is doing, but something with his head and my tailbone.....OWIE!!!! I have never experienced any type of tailbone pain during a pregnancy, so this is new. I have fractured my tailbone a few times in my lifetime, so I know the pain and it's not quite that bad, but sheesh!!! I certainly hope this little guy isn't going to be a 'sunnyside up' baby, I really don't care to experience back labour again, I will for sure be scouting out the anesthesiologist as soon as I arrive!!! I'm all for natural birth and support very much, however, I am not super woman and I'm not going to try to be!!!LOL

Oh, and I FINALLY updated the Food Blog it's nothing that great, more or less just my thoughts on screen, but it's straight from the heart.

Well, time to get those kiddies teeth brushed and tucked into bed, maybe I'll be able to get back on here later and update my graphics (I have some cutie patootie halloween ones I want to get on here, then WAHOOOOOO!!!!! It's time for winter/Christmas ones!!!HURRAY!!!!)

Have a blessed evening!!

ACK!!!!

Nothing much to report...other than checking in on my blog, I noticed that my baby ticker is on the last square...THE.LAST.SQUARE. This is it, the last 3 weeks (I think I'll be going in on the weekend of the 4th or 5th of November.....I think I have a better chance of roping someone (Auntie Shellie?!?!?!?!) in on the weekend than during the week.LOL!!!
I still feel really good, although I have at least 1-2 whopper contractions every hour, they are pretty strong, but they don't seem to go any further or get anymore intense. I see my doctor on Monday and then every Monday until I deliver, I'll be able to find out what is going on in there at my next appointment because she wants to check me. I'm figuring where I'm usually at this stage in the game (I'll be 36weeks on Monday)1-2cm dilated and 50-75% effaced, but we'll see!!! I could be thick and closed or 4cm...who knows?!?!?!LOL As long as I can make it through the next few weeks feeling like this, I'm good!!!

Alyssa and I are going to be working on the menu this weekend, she is my right hand in the kitchen so I thought it only fair she have a say in what we make. Especially come November when I'll be a little more dependent on her. (it never fails, baby always wants to nurse as soon as you have dropped the pasta in to boil!!LOL)
We have some new paper we'll be using, I will scan them after we're done!!

Well, have a blessed Friday!!!

So, we didn't end up with the houseful that I planned/hoped for. bummer. 1 out of the 6 people who were intent on coming showed up. Each had various reasons, some of which were understandable and others unacceptable, but it was their loss because WE had a blast and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!!!!

I have plenty of Turkey left over for soup and sandwiches and supper tonight was simple and easy (toasted turkey sandwiches and the rest of the food leftover) so that worked out well.

I did nothing today, I spent the last couple of days cleaning and preparing, so I took the day off. We stayed in our jammies and snuggled on the couch and watched the Crash Test Mommy Marathon on Life network!!!! To finish up the evening, we're going to enjoy, yet more pumpkin pie and icecream and coolwhip and then everyone is going to have a nice warm bath, so we're all fresh faced for school in the morning!!!

I uploaded a few pics into the Flickr for you all to enjoy!!!

The expression or destiny for #4:
Order, service, and management are the cornerstones of the number 4 Expression. Your destiny is to express wonderful organization skills with your ever practical, down-to-earth approach. You are the kind of person who is always willing to work those long, hard hours to push a project through to completion. A patience with detail allows you to become expert in fields such as building, engineering, and all forms of craftsmanship. Your abilities to write and teach may lean toward the more technical and detailed. In the arts, music will likely be your choice. Artistic talents may also appear in such fields as horiculture and floral arrangement, as well. Many skilled physicians and especially surgeons have the 4 Expression.

The positive attitudes of the 4 Expression yield responsibility; you are one who no doubt, fulfills obligations, and is highly systematic and orderly. You are serious and sincere, honest and faithful. It is your role to help and you are required to do a good job at everything you undertake.

If there is too much 4 energies present in your makeup, you may express some of the negative attitudes of the number 4. The obligations that you face may tend to create frustration and feelings of limitation or restriction. You may sometimes find yourself nursing negative attitudes in this regard and these can keep you in a rather low mood. Avoid becoming too rigid, stubborn, dogmatic, and fixed in your opinions. You may have a tendency to develop and hold very strong likes and dislikes, and some of these may border on the classification of prejudice. The negative side of 4 often produces dominant and bossy individuals who use disciplinarian to an excess. These tendencies must be avoided. Finally, like nearly all with 4 Expression, you must keep your eye on the big picture and not get overly wrapped up in detail and routine.

Your Soul Urge number is: 5

A Soul Urge number of 5 means:
The 5 soul urge or motivation would like to follow a life of freedom, excitement, adventure and unexpected happening. The idea of travel and freedom to roam intrigues you. You are very much the adventurer at heart. Not particularly concerned about your future or about getting ahead, you can seem superficial and unmotivated.

In a positive sense, the energies of the number 5 make you very adaptable and versatile. You have a natural resourcefulness and enthusiasm that may mark you as a progressive with a good mind and active imagination. You seem to have a natural inclination to be a pace-setter. You are attracted to the unusual and the fast paced.

You may be overly restless and impatient at times. You may dislike the routine work that you are engaged in, and tend to jump from activity to activity, without ever finishing anything. You may have difficulty with responsibility. You don't want to be tied down to a relationship, and it may be hard to commit to one person.

Your Inner Dream number is: 8

An Inner Dream number of 8 means:
You dream of success in the business or political world, of power and control of large material endeavors. You crave authority and recognition of executive skills. Your secret self may have very strong desire to become an entrepreneur.

Another rough day

At least it's just with the kids. I don't know what is up with them today, they are miserable and fighting with each other and with me. Ah well, school is almost over (it's lunchtime right now) and then EVERYONE is going to go and have quiet time on their beds....enough is ENOUGH!!!LOL

I've had two whopper contractions this morning (nobody get your hopes up, this is normal!!!ROFL) which has reminded me of how intense the real ones are.....and just how close I am to the big day!!! I know Matthew has dropped a bit deeper because the top half of my right thigh is numb, happens everytime with each pregnancy at 34-35wks, depending on which way baby is laying determines which leg gets numb, Mariah was really bad on the left side....!!!

Well, back to the books and arguing!!! Have a blessed day!!
